Naft نفت reflects on the landscapes of oil epochs, examining oil as a socio-economic force that has shaped the modern and contemporary histories of Western Asia. Composed of individual paper sheets marked with sump oil, the work creates a series of fictional scapes that shift between vast oil fields, desert landscapes, and microscopic organic forms. These imagined environments act as vessels for the collective narratives, mutations, and entanglements produced by the region’s oil economies.
