1996- is a time-based installation borrowing its name from the year the Taliban seized Kabul and established the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Through its temporal framework, the installation considers history not as a closed event, but as an ongoing condition whose effects continue to reverberate across the present, and reflects on the systems of control that followed and the ways they profoundly reshaped women's everyday lives.
